I am a devoted daily planner pages girl. Not only do I love all the space I get with daily pages, but I really like the idea of focusing on one day at a time–I’m not overwhelmed by the to do lists of tomorrow or haunted by the scribbled out mistakes of yesterday.
I’ve been using daily pages since day one. Some of you noticed that I recently expanded to a day-on-two-pages layout and wondered why I changed my system. I really just needed more space, so I added a notes page, and I’ve been LOVING it.
Since you guys seem to like this new layout, I wanted to quickly share how I use the different areas.
- I use the “TODAY” section at the top of the left page to note birthdays/events and reminders. If I don’t have any events or reminders for the day, I sometimes add a few stickers or some washi there. Some of you suggested it would be a great space for quotes or daily gratitude. This would also be a great space for your Top 3 of the day.
- The left column of that page is for my schedule. I use this space for meetings, appointments and any changes in my usual schedule (like when my girls get out of school early). But I also like to use this space to map out my schedule on really busy days. I intentionally didn’t include times in this column because 1) sometimes my schedule doesn’t follow a standard timeline and 2) so I can customize this area if needed, like for things that need to happen during a certain time of day but not necessarily at a specific time.
- My planner, and my life in general, is split into three main categories: family/personal, work and side hustle. My days are also split up this way–I’m in the office in the mornings, I’m focusing on the fam in the afternoon/evening, and working on the Etsy shop late at night after everyone is in bed. So this is how I separate my tasks in the right column. Splitting up my schedule and tasks like this really helps me focus which helps my productivity.
- Then the entire right page is extra space to use however I need: notes, lists, brain dump, doodles…anything! I have found that the main way I use this page is as a kind of “inbox”. As things come up–through emails, someone stopping by my desk, or something that just pops up in my head, I write it here. Then at the end of the day, I take those tasks and move them to the appropriate day, divider, or future planning list (more on that in an upcoming video!).
I filmed a video (view here) of how I use these daily pages to plan at the beginning of week. This Sunday I will share a video showing how these pages look all filled in, and also spend some time on my April monthly spread. I hope you will come plan with me 🙂
P.S. I wasn’t planning to sell these inserts in the shop, but I’ve gotten several requests to sell them. I’m still debating. Let me know in the comments if you want me to list these in the shop and perhaps I will!
