I recently posted a picture on Instagram of my Erin Condren Life Planner and my Louis Vuitton MM Agenda. I received a lot of questions about why and how I use two planners. I’ve always been more of a one planner type of girl, but I really, really wanted to try an ECLP and those gorgeous Etsy sticker kits. I just had to figure out a system that would work for me.
I knew I didn’t have the time, money or patience to plan the same week over and over again in various planners, or to do rewind spreads (where you plan the week that just passed), or to do mock spreads (where you plan the week using made up or old info).
I knew I wanted to keep all my info in one place. My OCD brain can’t have my schedule/tasks in one planner, fitness in another, finances in another, etc., etc.
And I knew that I didn’t want to abandon my ring bound planner because I love the travel-friendly size and how easily I can customize the set up of my pages.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally decided to use the ECLP as a creative outlet and preplanner. I always preplan my weeks anyway, either using a worksheet I made or a cute weekly notepad from Target or a scrap piece of paper. I find preplanning very useful in mapping out my week, making sure everything is covered and making sure I don’t over commit myself on any one day. So I figured if I’m preplanning anyway, why not have some fun and do it in an ECLP and make it pretty?
So, that’s why and how I use two planners. First I play with pretty stickers and preplan my entire week in the ECLP. Then each night I look at the plan for the following day and write it out in my ring bound planner. I like to plan only a day at a time in my ring bound because tasks and plans are always changing and so I plan day by day because I have to stay somewhat flexible and fluid.
