If you’ve been following me for awhile, you probably know that I have a full-time day job, in addition to this side hustle. The dream is to turn this side hustle into my main hustle one day, but in the meantime I have to hold it down with a 9-5. Luckily my job is super flexible and creative, so it’s not bad, per se. But it’s still just a job to me and sometimes it’s a drag to get through the daily grind when I’d rather be writing and filming and creating planner stuff all day, every day. 🙂
A while back I mentioned over on my Instagram feed that sometimes I like to wear my imaginary tiara to work to remind myself that I’m an Artist in the Office. I learned that term from a book I read many years ago by that title. It talks about little ways to survive the office as a creative. This concept has stuck with me through the years and has helped me on particularly rough days when it felt like my day job was sucking the life out of me. Haha, ok, that was super dramatic, but I think some of you know the feeling.
My planner is probably the number one way I keep that Artist in the Office mentality. I use my pretty sticky notes, I see my adorable Munchkins peeking out at me from my pages, I look at my schedule for the day and see that in just a few short hours I get to go home to tps headquarters. It helps. A lot.
